They came out quite sharp. What ISO setting were you using? Do you find you get similar quality in lower light environments with your 7D?

1/200 at f/4.0 at 800 ISO - I intentionally shoot a little dark in situations like this (to keep my ISO down as much as possible) and brighten and color balance in post. Here's one of the originals:

Of course, in hindsight - I could have dialed the shutter speed down a bit. I think I was shooting Shutter Priority at 1/200 to ensure that my shots were sharp. We were walking outside on a bright sunny day and then popping into the market (which was pretty dark) and back again.

The difference between the sensors on the 7D and Mark II are night and day. The ISO on the Mark II and III can be pushed way up and past what the 7D can do. The sensor is bigger and is much more sensitive to light (great paper on this here - jump to page 21).

It's amazing how much you're able to push the exposure in post on those photos and not get a lot of noise. Now I really want a 5D!

It's nice to see you on the forum - I would love to see some of your southwest photos. Have you had time yet to explore the countryside near you home?

I haven't explored much yet. Tim and I went to Taliesin West and took some photos there, but I didn't capture anything too interesting.

It's been pretty hot here.... over 100 for a couple months now. I'm planning on getting out more when it starts cooling down. There are tons of places with trails to hike on and lots of areas to explore in Tonto Forest and other areas.

Wow! That's smokin hot. It hit 92 degrees here yesterday and it's just about as hot today. I think that's insane!

It definitely is hot! Thankfully we bought a house with a pool here. It helps a lot.
