Thread: My new toy

    My new toy

Well, I finally was able to afford some new gear! Its not the 5D Mk II that I wanted but now I am able to afford some more extra stuff othere then dropping another grand on a body. Someday though. But my Canon 50D will suite me just fine. I was so excited to get this last thursday! I have a few shoots coming up that I will be able to use it on so I am getting excited for that!

    Exciting times for me!

    Exciting times indeed!

I'd love to get a 5D Mark II as well... Mainly because of it's ability to handle higher ISOs and it's full size sensor. I have been thinking I might get a 50D as an interim figuring it would be good to have two camera bodies anyway, at least for the type of photography I'm leaning toward these days.

I hope you'll post some pics soon from it.

Have you seen any comparisons of the 50D ISO at 12800 to the 5Dmk II? Are they similar?

I have not, but I have read the reviews about the 5D Mark IIs performance at higher ISOs and there is nothing but praise for it. I've been relatively happy with the ISO performance of my XTi at ISO800, so I assume the 50D will be even better. Of course, that's just an assumption. I'd love to see comparisons.

Here is one I found, it shows the ISO compaired next the the 50D and 5D mark II. The Mark II ISO looks amazing when it gets higher.
