    What's a 5D classic worth to you?

I've got a friend trying to sell his 5Dc because he upgraded to the 5D MkIII and since I'm still using an Xsi I thought I might try to have a go at it. He's letting me borrow it for the next week or so and I have to decide how much I like it.

I've already played around with my Sigma lens (the one with the AF problem) on it and the full frame is awesome, the DOF is phenomenal and I love the quality of the images. My problem is that I don't know what I should pay for it and what it's worth to me. The camera itself has a battery grip, 2 Canon batteries, the original box with a silicone type rubber grip that's a case for it and all the booklets as well.

What would you guys pay for a 5Dc that doesn't have a single scratch and the hotshoe is the only thing showing wear?

Hey jrome! You have to change the wishlist in your signature to 5D MkIII!

I deliberately dumped my classic 5D a while back -before the MkIII came out -to get as much as I could out of it. With the MkIII out now, the classic 5D is sliding in price fast. That's good for you! I think I traded it in for something like $1400. On eBay, I found a classic 5D (body only) for $800.

The classic 5D is an awesome camera. I have to say, I was not that impressed with the jump to the MkII and I am thinking of sitting out the MkIII.

I think I'm going to buy it. I played with it for a couple hours today and I love it. I'll post some pics later.

So what are you using now Steve?

    I am primarily shooting with a MkII and a 7D. I am also using a Nikon D7000.

I definitely think you should scoop up the classic 5D. Just do some research so that you don't over pay for it. Nice seeing you on the forum!

Well I updated my signature! I've attached a couple of shots that I did earlier today.

Well for everything he's selling it's $1000. That includes a 5D Classic, Canon grip for the 5D, 2 Canon batteries, rubber case for the camera that hasn't ever been used, a 8GB Sandisk Extreme CF, Canon backpack, Manfrotto tripod head, 24" 1080p LED TV, a tripod that I don't remember the name of (decent quality), a Verizon 4G hotspot and I feel like there's something else too that I'm forgetting. Overall I think it's all worth it

Nice! I think you got a pretty good deal - especially with all the add-ons. Buying from a friend should give you some peace of mind that it was pretty well taken care of.

Welcome to the full frame club!

Thanks! I'm still a little on the fence but I think that's just big purchase jitters. I guess its a good thing I'm not purchasing the mark III right now then.

Gorgeous dogs, Jrome! We had a boxer mix for a few months, but my wife had severe allergic reactions to her. She ended up with asthma for a while as a result of the dog. She was a great dog, though.

Sounds like a great acquisition! I'm hoping to upgrade my XTi sometime this year.
