Thread: Clarity slider

    Clarity slider

I don't want to dress this up as a tip as there is lots of information out there on how to use the clarity slider in Lightroom. But just in case somebody finds this useful, I've put a post up on my blog about using the clarity slider to soften images, as opposed to its normal use of increasing the contrast in the mid-tones.

The link to the post is at:

I'd also value your opinions on the image there, so please leave me a comment!

    Re: Clarity slider

Hey thanks for the post. i hadn't really used the clarity slider and decided to have a look at your link interesting. I had not realised that the slider could go negative and therefore can create some interesting looks using the bruch mask setting the slider to a positive and negative mask.

i can see that the technique could add interest to certain pictures. I find that talking to people through this forum is really useful as you learn so much from other posts.

I think that being able to apply negative Clarity is new in LR2 / ACR 5.2.
