Free Instagram Look Lightroom Presets

Note: These Instagram Look Lightroom Presets have been designed to imitate the look of Instagram processing effects. The presets were created for the F/Stop Spot community and are not related to Instagram. Be sure to check out our other presets.

Whether you’re a new photographer or a seasoned professional, it’s hard to ignore the beautiful, analog processing effects available in Instagram. I think it has something to do with how we imagine the world.

Many of us remember moments frozen in time as aging photographs with faded colors and vignettes. Now you can create the look of your favorite Instagram effects in Lightroom (for free!).

This first set of Lightroom presets imitate seven of the most popular Instagram effects: Amaro, Mayfair, Rise, Hudson, Valencia, X-Pro II and Sierra. We’ve also added three light leak presets created from scratch: X-Pan Pro Light Leaks. Use the light leak presets alone or stack them with other presets. We’ve made every effort to ensure that these presets are styled just like the effects found in Instagram.

Note: These presets have been designed using Lightroom 4 and 5. Adobe changed how images are rendered in Lightroom 4. Although there will be minor differences, these presets create a very similar effect in older versions of Lightroom.

How to Install the Presets (it’s easy!)
The are available as a downloadable zip file. Download the file onto your desktop (or someplace convenient). You should now have a folder named “F-Stop-Spot-Instagram-Look-1.zip” on your desktop. Unzip the zip file onto your desktop. Open the folder you just unzipped and look for a sub-folder named “F-Stop Spot Instagram Look (set 1)”.

To install the presets, open Lightroom and navigate to either the Library or Develop Module. Next click Edit -> Preferences from the top menu to open the preferences dialog window. Click on the Presets tab (at the top) and then Show Lightroom Presets Folder. Your computer’s file explorer window should pop open. Open the Lightroom folder and then open the Develop Presets folder.

Save the sub-folder named “F-Stop Spot Instagram Look (set 1)” (the very last folder within main folder you just unzipped) inside the Develop Presets folder. Now you must close and re-open Lightroom for the presets to show up. You will find the presets in the left panel under the Develop Module.

Lightroom Presets That Make Your Images Look Like They Were Processed in Instagram

Using the Presets
Most images need fine-tuning after using a creative preset. These presets work beautifully on most images; however don’t hesitate to monkey around with the develop settings. You can create some interesting processing effects by stacking presets so give that a try too!
