Waterline shot of the USS MIDWAY- fantail deck, stern of the ship. This shot shows the wear and tear which 47 years plus of service can do to a ship. She's carried many of our men and women to and from wars over the years, now she's in her final resting place here in San Diego.

Very cool shot, D. Most people don't understand how immense these incredible warships really are. My ex-wife was terrified to be near them, they were so big. Personally, I love them.

Thanks Mike. She is was once the largest aircraft carrier in the fleet- Essex class, converted the deck 3 times over the course of her life, and now she is tiny compared to the new Nimitz class, which are 124 feet longer. She's still an amazing relic of technology for her era though. Along with the added cliche, " If her walls could talk", the history of this ship speaks volumns.

Excellent work on that, Darren! Your HDR shots are coming out very nicely. You have some great subjects to photograph there in San Diego. Perhaps we should get together when my wife and I visit her parents this summer in CA.
