This (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?jspStoreDir=hdus&catalogId=10053&productId=100466194&navFlow=3&keyword=weed%2Bcutter&langId=-1&searchRedirect=weed+cutter&storeId=10051&endecaDataBean=com.homedepot.sa.el.wc.catalog.bean s.EndecaDataBean%402df788b6&ddkey=THDStoreFinder). I bought it today to clear tall weeds around my pond. My string trimmer gets tangled up real bad with the tall stuff and it takes hours to do what should only take a half hour.... Of course, if I didn't let the weeds grow, it wouldn't be a problem. :D

I never played with a tool like that before. When I have a hard core job like you describe, I usually load a free swinging blade attachment (three plastic blades that spin) onto my gas trimmer before - they worked pretty well, cutting down small twigs and most weeds.

I bought one of those too. If it gets to be too much to use the weed cutter, I'll give the blade attachment a whirl. I could use the physical exercise, though.

Get a sickle and a black robe with a hood. I bet the neighbors would love that!

I don't have neighbors! I could be out there in my underwear doing yard work and nobody but me would know!

3 hours, some rain, some sweating and I can finally enjoy the view around my pond again!
Those plastic blades work great, but the weeds were too tall. They kept getting tangled in my weed eater. The weed cutter tool I bought worked great for clearing the tall stuff. And I always feel better after doing that kind of work!

After all that work you should post some pics of your pond!

I'll see what I can come up with. It's kind of mangy with all the algae and weeds inside the pond. :|
