I really wanted to post an entry to the RED contest, but I didn't want to take advantage of my moderator status and unlock the thread.... I might suggest that we keep them open so people can comment on the photos and, if they have entries they want to show off, it will be possible. Perhaps the thread could be locked during the period of time the photos are being judged to make it less confusing.

I'll be honest... Red is a difficult theme for me. I don't think I have many photos that I have taken in the past with any red in them. I had to settle for a T-Shirt or a newspaper (read), but I don't have any newspapers. :)
Lighting Setup:
I had a bare flash on set on full or half power pointed at the small tree behind my daughter. When I took the first shot, I liked the overexposed look of the background, so I kept it that way. The light on my daughter is from a shoot-through umbrella. I think the power setting was around 1/4, but I'm not entirely positive. It might have been helpful to have used a reflector to bounce some light back onto her face in the shadow regions.
