View Full Version : Hello
I just acquired an IS Pro, primarily to play around with near IR imaging, but while I wait for the IR filters to arrive I went out this AM and shot some pics with and without UV/IR filter on the lens. WAY too much fun. Still working on the exposure but was able to get a few pictures I liked. Wasted the rest of the day playing with Photoshop to see what I could do with a full spectrum IS Pro pic. I was trying to distress one of these images and came across a tutorial at paxtonprints.com on using textures. I ended up using a brush and a noise layer, but liked what I saw at this web site and enjoyed reading some of the blogs so figured I "sit a spell".
Have dabbled in photography since high school for fun but never had a darkroom of my own, never processed color until digital cameras and Photoshop were available. Have used photography for scientific and engineering imaging but now I just play. Took a video editing course last fall and followed that up with After Effects in the spring so have new toys in the play pen..
Regards
Michael

Welcome to the forum! Did you get a Fuji IS Pro? Did you pick it up used or did Fuji start making them again? I have had the chance to play with that camera a little bit - it's very unique! I would love to see some of your ALS work when you get your camera up and running.

I had recently viewed some web pages that indicated the IS Pro was again available in England in limited supplies, priced at around $600 Eu. Then I found a web site indicating a NY camera store had nine new Fuji IS Pros available for $995. I'm just guessing these are IS Pro's that weren't sold and Fuji is clearing them out - but don't know that for sure. The firmware in this camera is NOT the latest posted on Fuji web site, this camera is at 1.0 and Fuji is posting 1.02 and 1.03 (Circa 2009 I think) as downloadable upgrades.

My friend has an IS Pro that is broken - it just stopped taking pictures. He sent it to Fuji for repair. They recently indicated to him that they do not have the parts to fix it. They have actually held onto it for several months looking for the parts to fix it.
You own an awesome, one-of-a-kind camera. Take good care of it!
One of these days I plan to send one of my old DSLRs to Life Pixel (http://www.lifepixel.com/) to have it converted - I have heard they do a great job. The company is literally 20 minutes from me. I checked on their prices last year and it was $500 for an IR conversion. Now it's down to a very affordable $250 or so. It's very tempting!
