Hi all! So Yeah, this is me introducing myself- Im actually an editor in London (of video that is), and have my technical knowledge from film/ digital camcorders (pretty high end ones though :;-D:)
However, having migrated to the market of DSLR video shooters, Ive also become pretty into photography. I just wish I had more money for a few decent lenses! Using a HORRIBLE kit lens at the moment- 18-55 3.5- 5.6 Canon IS. Eurgh.

Anyway, I hope to contribute stuff here! The weekly assignments look like a great way to begin :D

Welcome! That kit lens is pretty decent, especially for a kit lens :D can't match a good prime or an L, obviously, but it dOes the trick pretty well. I'll look forward to seeing your work!

Hello! I am so glad you jump in! I have been a photographer for nearly 20 years and I am just starting to come to grips with how to incorporate video into my business - in a way that's not just cliche and useless. It's pretty cool to have on board HD video but I am just a mess trying to figure out how to make it into a product that doesn't take a huge amount of extra time to produce (I have played with Animoto and other video services, but I am not sure I am liking it that much). The merging of these two fields is exciting and strange at the same time.

It's great having someone in the forum with your video (and underwater basket weaving (http://paxtonprints.com/forum/member.php/655-tmorterlaing)) experience and I look forward to seeing your photography!

I forgot to turn on 'reply notifications' to this welcome post, cheers for the hellos both!
@Steve- if you ever want any advice with any video work (especially editing) then feel free to get in touch- could even arrange some long range projects! been editing for about 7 years and think I can say my stuff when it comes to video :)
Just throwing it out there :D

Just looking back at this, Im wondering if people are confusing when I say '18-55' with the much better Canon 17-55 2,8... the 18-55 really is NOT good in any way, its not even glass a lot of it! Lol

I ended up buying a Canon kit camera years back when I purchased the 20D. I have the 18-55 in a drawer or bin somewhere - it is a very cheap lens! Light as a feather and nearly all plastic! Don't let that stop you though.
