I dug through some of the piles of film images I have and ran across these. George W. Bush made a campaign stop in Everett, Washington sometime in or around May 2000. My wife and I waited all morning in line to watch him speak. We ended up with a nearly front row seat - actually, we were all standing on a pier with the USS Abraham Lincoln (an aircraft carrier) behind the podium as the backdrop. As I recall, Bush spoke for about 20 minutes before turning it over to Senator John McCain who stumped for him. I captured all these pics with a Canon Elan 35mm camera. After the event, Bush waited around and shook hands with just about anyone who wanted to. He shook our hands and signed my ball cap (which I still have).
It was an interesting time for him. This was right before he became president. About a year later he would be tested with 9/11.
Image note: these are just straight scans of several of the prints I have.

This image of Bush sitting with Laura is fierce. I love that expression of determination and confidence.
