Last night, FSU played their first exhibition game of the season. It was my first time shooting FSU basketball, as well as my first time in the arena. Its always a little weird for me, walking in to a new location with hundreds or thousands of people and not knowing where anything is. Still, I got set up and had a great time shooting. Most of the other photogs were shooting under the basket, I decided to head to the stands with my 70-200 2.8 and later my 300 2.8, which I put on a tripod and prefocused on the basket. Here are the results. As always, criticism is appreciated.

All shots almost un-cropped and are shot at 1/500 f/2.8 ISO 1250 on my 7D. The grain on my 40D at that ISO makes it useless. :-_-: The first shot is with the 70-200 @90mm, the second and third are with the 300mm.

Also, this is my 200th post (yay!), I'd like to thank everyone here who has given me feedback and shared their work. This forum has a nice community feel to it and has really helped me to grow as a photog.

Great looking images! The compositions are well done. The few times I have photographed basketball games, I always had a hard time with the color balance. With the halogen lights and yellow floor, everything seems to always look so yellow (or overly warm). You did a great job nailing the color balance!

These are great shots! You have a great knack for sports photography. As a sports fan I would imagine it's so much fun to get 'behind the scenes' of some of these events.

Thanks!

@Steve- I REALLY liked the lighting in there, compared to smaller arenas it was really bright and cold.

@Chris- It is an amazing feeling, especially when you get to be in the mob after a team wins a big game or are working while surrounded by 80 thousand screaming fans.

Nailed them! I especially like the last shot. Excellent capture of the action.

What do you mean by 200? I see you have 202 now. :P
