Hey hey,

I was just curious to know what everyone's favorite light modifier was. What is your go to item?

For example do you like using soft boxes, Octa boxes, or shoot through umbrellas? Are you a beauty dish users or do you just like to bounce your flash?

Personally I've mainly only used shoot though umbrellas and a Lastolite Ezybox. However I'm looking at expanding my arsenal and was wondering what you guys use.

My go-to modifier's are definitely umbrellas. I don't have a lot of modifiers but I want some grids! Probably 10 degree and 40 degree should cover my needs to start.

Umbrellas (bounced), Lastolite Ezybox, snoot and bare flashes. I need to get an octobox too, but for the most part I get the job done with what I have.

I love softboxes a little too much. I used to shoot with them a lot more before I moved into sports, but I'm picking up some freelance journalism in the next few months and plan to go back to my 16" x 24" softbox-on-a-stick. The other modifiers that I really like are home made paper and cardboard modifiers on small lights. I am continuously surprised at the really cool, slick looking results that you can get with a simple gobo, snoot, or grid made out of a cardboard box.
